Warhammer Quest App Reviews

Really fun, however

One of the best iOS games Ive played in a while however the one downside is that you only have access to 1/3 of the game for free, and to get any other characters it costs about $2.99 a piece.

Alas never good game dies

Started out as a good game. Its been revamped in order to nickel and dime players. Tragically it will be the same fate as Warhammer Space Wolf and be deleted.

Great game......bad grammar

Fun turn based RPG, but for Christ sake have someone proof read it before its released. The story is told completely through text and it is riddled with spelling and grammatical errors. Four stars for making an iOS game that is fun for more than 20 minutes, but come on guys, take some pride in your work. Simple update.

This is the game to get

Great game to get and it is just a fun game to play!

Meh

Its okay. I like grid based srpgs. The animations are a bit slow. Really the main detractor are the unavoidable iap if you want to play through. Characters other than the starting four cannot be found or purchased through in game grinding they can only be bought. Should have made new characters findable or grindable. Only the new areas should have needed to be purchased.

Excellent

Have had this installed since the beginning. I go back and play it weekly. Fun game, wish they released more content though.

6 Plus, iOS 8.3

Ive never been more pleased with visuals or sound than with this title, as it is one of the more polished experiences on iOS. Put simply: Warhammer Quest is stunning. Ultimately, however, it feels as though players are subject to several game-breaking flaws, a couple of which I will explain. The first: its IAP-laden to the point of being cost prohibitive. An example of this would be having a 4-person party that needs 45K of in-game currency for upgrades (that you already have earned through dungeon crawling) while consistently earning around 1K or less per mission. It would cost $30 to purchase enough in-game currency for said warrior training with real money. I have given an example of the first, developer avarice. The second: terrible balancing. These whims of fate manifest in several ways, to include (a) the spawning of wave upon wave of the same enemies, which causes your magic wielder to go without the power to perform his largely ineffective healing spells for a turn, (b) the senseless and random hazard encounters that harm your party members between battles and dungeons, and (c) the constant swinging and missing, which ostensibly represents the odds (consistently 10-20 percent in my case, even with Level 7 dungeoneers) one would see with actual dice rolls while playing the board game upon which this title is based. At well over 40 hours in, I cant wait for the journey to end. I wonder if I wouldve lasted this long were it not for the money I spent on additional characters and content. You see, I have been seeking a return on the initial investment the whole time. I would implore you, prospective buyer, to beware the exorbitant cost of attempting to enjoy what really is a deeply flawed title. I consistently fight the urge to delete Warhammer Quest, and suspect that many of you would as well. EDIT: Added four stars to my initial one-star review. Recently finished a new 55-hour campaign with just the base characters (plus the witch hunter), and found that there was plenty of gold and XP to go around. My mistake was to take too many different characters into the dungeons too soon, which meant that the gold and XP ran short before core members were sufficiently leveled to take on harder quests. Learn from this, reader. Resist the temptation to level all of your party members or you may lose upwards of 40 hours before hitting the inevitable paywall such a choice invites. By the way, a 2xGold weapon goes a long way toward getting your party maxed out.

Its fun, but

I might spend more money on the game if they made some things fair. $29.99 for just enough coins to level up your crew to level 6 is insane. Also, the inventory situation is massively limited, in fact the inventory situation is one of my biggest gripes, its just weird the way they set it up, a potion takes up the same slot as a sword or armor. I dont want to buy other characters because I cant even save up equipment for them with out stifling my adventure crew. Potions are so crazy expensive and for 1 lousy turn, for that kind of money they should be good for a whole dungeon. All in all it is fun, however there are serious balance issues and this is probably one of the most greedy games I have ever played, shame on you Rodeo, I might spend the money if I didnt feel like I was getting robbed

I feel robbed

Ok first off you charge for the game, then load it with iaps and expansions. Then you dont unlock characters as you progress you have to buy them!! There is only a small map to start with and they believe its worth five bucks. The gameplay is ok but I should be able to free roam when not in battle. Sorry but I wouldnt recommend buying this.

Its a little glitchy, but it doesnt even matter.

This is by far the best mobile game I have ever played.

Warning: Forces Push Notifications with no opt-out

If you value your privacy & control over your own device, dont waste 5$ on this game which entitles itself to spam your notification center. I guess this goes hand in hand with the blatant monetization attempts others have complained about. In order to launch the game, it forces you to respond to the standard push notification requester, but with only an OK button, no choice. In System Preferences, the app icon itself only results in a blank page. In the Notifications settings, it does not appear at all. The in-game settings do not include a choice either. I am not aware of any other options. Im surprised this is not some kind of violation of the App Store requirements, fortunately so far its the only (legit?) app like this I have come across. To me this unacceptable behaviour, especially for a PAID(!) app, so this game is DOA for me regardless of any further merits and I will request a refund. This review is mostly to prevent others concerned with this from wasting their money like I did.

Great game, but without paying, it is merely a demo

I played 6-7 hours and really, really enjoyed the game. Great RPG elements, plenty of strategy, and enough luck to keep it from being dry. Unfortunately, only about 25% of the game is free to play, and the only way to play more is to make individual in-app purchases. Want to visit that town? Shell out $5. Want to play as that character? That’ll be $3. To unlock everything in the game is $30-40, and there is no convenient “Unlock All” option. If I could unlock everything for $10, I would consider it, even though that is still quite a bit for an iOS game. I’d even consider trying out a new character/class if it were $.99, but $3 to use a different class is a little ridiculous. As it stands, I will not be continuing to play the game. It’s a shame, this had so much going for it.

Expensive pay wall

This game was fun at first, even though im not a fan of the random mana system. However, most content is locked behind a pay wall. Expect to pay 20+ bucks for all content.

Awesome

If you enjoy D&D, this is a truly elegant iPad/iPhone trip. Well executed and cross-device syncing make this a great game, without spending a dime on the in-app purchases. Then, after you have played the game, if you like it, expand the experience by adding a new map. Or two. And when everything has been conquered, there are new characters to start it all over with. Worth every penny. Every game goes on-the-shelf, eventually. The true measure of a classic game is not merely that you finish it but how often it is taken down and played again. This is a 5-star game.

Repetitive

This game is so repetitive that hurts. The levels are all the same in design, corridors for 2 characters side by side and open rooms, where most of the fights happen. so, there is no tactics here, you just put your fighters in front and attack with then. No real strategy, dont waste your money.

Hoping it will get better

I tried to like this game, I really did, and its easy to, great graphics, great mechanics, I love almost everything about it. But until the developers make it were I dont have to shoot at someone 45 times before I bloody hit them, or swing at someone a block away 7 times while using damage potions before hitting them, this game isnt getting above a 3, and thats generous. Im sick of going through dungeons and burning through 2 turns in a row of just the "miss" icon, these are sodding professional adventurers, they arent going to miss something 2 feet away 6 times IN A ROW. I just played through a dungeon where my marauder didnt LAND A SINGLE F****** HIT. NOT TO MENTION that if youre going to make enemies randomly spawn that often, dont make them spawn 3 rooms back just because they are within sight. And if youre going to have a mechanic that can make enemies spawn 4 times before I can even advance to the next room at least let me keep the magic I had the round before. Also why cant you let us store at least 10 magic? THESE ARE ADVENTURERS NOT KIDS, A TRAINED WIZARD DOESNT ACCIDENTALLY SPAWN IN ENEMIES 4 TIMES IN A ROW AND HE CAN SURELY KEEP SOME MAGIC STORED. Sometimes they spawn again before Im back at the place I started the attack from. I take back my 3 youre lucky Im giving this a 2.

Defective game, terrible service

I had every hero maxed out, all quests beaten, and my save game disappeared. Rodeos non-existent customer service never responded to any emails. Screw Rodeo, and screw this game.

Defective game, terrible support

I had a saved game with all characters maxed, all quests beaten. Then it just disappeared. Rodeo has not even responded to several help requests. Do not bother with this or any other Rodeo game, it may just lead to disappointment.

Pay to play nonsense

Ridiculous pay to play system for a game with very little depth. If you want to spend a few bucks to play a few hours before hitting a game-killing pay wall this is the game for you.

Needs an update

It looks like the developer has basically abandoned this app. It hasnt been updated in almost a year, though I enjoy it.
